Ronald Keith Owens

Salineville- Ronald Keith Owens, 64, died at home on Thursday afternoon surrounded by his family.

He was born June 13, 1947 in East Liverpool, a son of the late Ralph Edwards Owens and Mary June Christy Owens.

Ron lived all of his life in this area, graduating in 1966 from Southern Local High School and then enlisted in the United States Army becoming a combat engineer. He served in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive, receiving the Good Conduct medal, National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal before being honorably discharged.

He worked with the Columbiana County Department of Human Services where he was crew supervisor. He totally remodeled the upstairs rooms of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4111 in Lisbon, the Good Samaritan House in Salem, the Kyes Home for Girls in East Palestine, and built the Wayne Township Garage from the ground up, and built the new Columbiana County Dog Pound which has been dedicated in his name. He also worked with the Columbiana County Highway Department.

He was a proud and honorable man who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge 348.

He will be sadly missed by his son, Mark (Kelli) Owens of Carrollton; his mother , Mary June Owens; one brother, Ralph W. Owens of WV; five sisters, Joyce Owens of Wellsville, Carolyn (Mark) Lohman of Salineville, Sherri (Dan) Delane of Minerva, Marilyn (John) Reardon of Salineville, Darlene Derry of Martins Ferry and two grandchildren, Markus and Logan Owens.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 4:00PM at the Kerr-Pastore Funeral Home in Salineville with Pastor Bob Rowley of the Believers Christian Fellowship Church officiating.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home 2-4 prior to service. Full military honors will be accorded by the John Adams Post 442.
