Eva T. Hruby Kerchin

Salineville -Eva T. Hruby Kerchin, 96, formerly of Seigler Road, died Monday morning at the Vista Center in Lisbon with her nephew Leonard Hruby at her side.

She was born August 30, 1915, in Salineville, a daughter of the late Stella and Paul Hruby.

Eva was a very caring and generous woman. She assisted in educating her twelve nieces and nephews, as well as helping educate multiple priests and sisters throughout the world.

Eva was a graduate nurse from Duquesne University in Pennsylvania. She was a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army overseas in WW II, and also worked as a nurse for the U.S. Postal Department until retiring at the age of 72. She lived her last 13 years in Ohio.

Eva is survived by 12 nieces and nephews; Maureen Burnett, Ilene Hruby, Father Paul Hruby, Patrick Hruby, Veronica Hruby, Sandy Hubscher, Regina Aadland, Leonard Hruby, Kenny Hruby, Joseph Hruby, Greg Hruby, and Jennifer Holdren; twelve great nieces and nephews and 2 great-great nephews.

Besides her parents, Eva was preceded in death by two husbands, John Richter and Joseph Kerchin; 6 brothers, Rudolph Hruby, Paul Hruby, Frank Hruby, John Hruby, Joseph Hruby, Steve Hruby, and one sister, Velma Hruby.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John's Catholic Church in Summitville on Friday at 11:00 AM, with her nephew Father Paul Hruby officiating.

Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Salineville where full military honors will be accorded by the American Legion John Adams Post 442 Honor Guard.

Family and friends will be received at St. John's Church in Summitville one hour prior to the mass.

Memorial contributions can be made in Eva's name to the Hospice of the Valley and The Alzheimer's Foundation.

The Kerr-Pastore Funeral Home in Salineville is handling the arrangements.
