Doris Margaret Leek Adams

SALINEVILLE - Doris Margaret Leek Adams, 90, died peacefully at her home on Sunday evening with her family present after a courageous 19 month battle with cancer.

She was born December 31, 1920 in Salineville, a daughter of the late Mearl and Suzanna (Snowden) Leek.

Doris graduated as valedictorian of the 1938 class of Salineville High School. She continued her education at the Akron Business College where she graduated in 1940.

During WWII Doris served as a secretary to Generals and Colonels at the Army Air Corps Training Command Headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas where her husband Martin was stationed. Doris continued her long successful career as an office manager for Smith Ford, Carrollton, Ohio and Our Company in Salineville, Ohio.

Doris resided most of her life in Salineville where she had a number of hobbies including golf, bridge, travel, dancing, and along with her husband Martin shared a love of horse racing. They successfully owned and raced horses at Mountaineer Park for 33 years. She also possessed a great sense of style.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, Martin, at home; one daughter Marti Diane (Denise) Smye of Florida and Toronto, Canada; one son, Marty E. (Patti) Adams of Salineville; one brother, John David (Wilda) Leek of Palm Desert, California; two sisters, Sonja Sue (Chuck) McCully of Palm Desert, California and Sara I. (James D) Smith of Salineville; two grandchildren, Joshua Martin (Dipali) Adams of Cincinnati and Matthew James Adams and fiancee Trista Choney of Washington, D.C.; and one great-grandchild Parker Joshua Adams of Cincinnati.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one brother Thomas M. Leek.

Services will be held Tuesday, June 21 at 11:30 a.m. at the Kerr-Pastore Funeral Home in Salineville with Pastor Tom Allmon officiating.

Private burial services will be in Woodland Cemetery.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10-11:30.
